Job Overview 

We are looking for a skilled and hardworking Steel Fixer to be a part of our Construction team. You should be able to measure, cut, bend, and setup steel bars as per the specifications provided. You should be able to examine the work area and provide clients with the work completion timeline.  

You should be aware of the health and safety protocols and display compliance to it at all times. Moreover, you should be able to reinforce steel bars to the frameworks. You should also be able to seal the joints using fitting spacers and by welding. 

As a Steel Fixer, you should have excellent physical and mental strength. In addition to this, you should be aware of the industry standards and have a detail-oriented approach. Familiarity with various rebaring equipment and proven work experience in the Construction industry will be advantageous.

Responsibilities 

• Reading and interpreting technical specifications and blueprints 

• Reviewing the work area to determine the number of materials required 

• Providing clients with an estimate of the work completion timelines 

• Measuring and cutting steel bars correctly 

• Bending and laying out steel bars, rods, and mesh as per the specifications 

• Joining steel bars using fitting spacers and by welding 

• Fixing steel bars and mesh by applying cement 

• Preparing and pouring cement and other concrete mixes into prepared casts 

• Using hand and power tools to perform daily activities 

• Setting up and positioning steel bars, plates, and other steel units 

• Clearing the work area before and after work 

Requirements 

• High school diploma or equivalent 

• Apprenticeship in steel fixing is desirable 

• Proven work experience as a Steel Fixer or a similar role in the Construction industry 

• Complete knowledge of the industry standards, health, and safety protocols 

• Familiarity with hand, power tools and rebaring equipment like electric rebar cutters, wire rope cutters, and rebar cutting shear 

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings 

• Excellent physical dexterity 

• Ability to work for long, flexible hours and in extreme weather conditions 

• Willingness to travel to different locations 

• Good communication and interpersonal skills 

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively 

• Strong technical and mechanical skills 

• Good time management and organizational skills 

• Highly motivated and detail-oriented individual
