Job Overview

We are looking for a Barber to join our growing team of grooming professionals. You should be able to help clients with all their hair needs. As a skilled Barber, you should be able to cut and style hair to match the clients’ requirements. You should take into consideration the face and hair type of clients. You should also use styling products like mousse, setting sprays, and serums to help retain the clients’ hairstyle for a longer time.

Apart from hair cutting and styling duties, you should ensure that the work station is clean and sanitized. Haircutting and styling equipment like scissors, combs, and clippers should also be cleaned regularly. Furthermore, you should keep a tab on cosmetic/hair care supplies and place orders whenever needed. 

You should be able to assess the clients’ hair type and condition to recommend befitting treatments like hair smoothening, rebonding, and permanent straightening. Additionally, you should provide hair relaxing treatments like hot oil massage and hair spas.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming clients and offering them refreshments

• Cutting and trimming hair to match the clients’ requirements

• Suggesting haircuts to suit the client’s face shape and hair type

• Using clippers and comb to section and style hair particularly long hair

• Trimming and shaving beard and mustache

• Applying cooling/soothing lotions after shaving

• Trimming hair off the temple and neck

• Using styling products like mousse, serum, and setting spray to hold hairstyle for a longer period of time

• Providing face, neck, and scalp massage

• Offering relaxing treatments like hair spas, hot oil massage, and deep root massage

• Blow drying hair after a hair wash

• Cleaning and sanitizing workstation and equipment regularly

• Monitoring inventory supplies and placing orders whenever needed

• Offering discount coupons to promote services

• Recommending hair care products like shampoo and conditioner to clients

• Providing chemical treatments like hair coloring and hair smoothening

• Draping and covering clients shoulders with a protective cloth to avoid spoiling the client’s attire

• Maintaining bills and receiving payments from clients

• Providing styling suggestions to clients

• Styling clients hair using styling tools like curling/straightening irons and blow dryers

• Supervising new employees

• Coordinating with Beauty Salon Manager on everyday basis and keeping him/her updated about the appointments

Requirements

• High school diploma or degree in any subject

• Proven work experience in barber shops or salons

• Having cleared the state barber’s license exam

• Knowledge of different hairstyling techniques

• Ability to stand for long hours

• Good communication skills

• Ability to maintain proper hygiene standards

• Detail-oriented and highly motivated individual

• Displaying a pleasant attitude

• Ability to offer increased customer satisfaction
